Maintenance contracts to deliver more than $60m in savings

The NSW Government today announced the award of eight new contracts to deliver maintenance services to 3,000 government sites across the State, including schools, TAFE campuses in the North Coast and Hunter / Central Coast Regions, ambulance stations and fire stations.

 The Government’s cleaning and maintenance contracts are progressing on separate timelines.

 As announced by the Government earlier this year, the cleaning procurement to service approximately 4,200 sites will continue and adopt principles in the existing contract which ensure cleaners’ rights are fully protected.

 CEO of Property NSW, Brett Newman, said the asset maintenance contracts have been awarded across eight NSW regions, with four contractors selected to undertake the works following a detailed, competitive procurement process.

“Throughout this process the Government has been committed to ensuring it delivers value for money for taxpayers and improved service levels across the State,” Mr Newman said.

 “The new contract arrangements are estimated to save the Government more than $60 million over the four-and-a-half-year contract term.

“Every dollar saved is a dollar that can be invested back into service delivery.”

In addition, each contractor has committed to targets relating to Aboriginal and disability employment. The new contracts come into effect on 1 July 2018.
