Driver Test Wait Times Slashed Across NSW
Minister for Finance, Services and Property, Dominic Perrottet has officially launched a dedicated Service NSW Driver Test Centre at Silverwater, expected to further reduce driver test wait times across the state, which have dropped significantly in the last year.
Mr Perrottet said the huge reduction in driver test waiting times showed the Government was continuing to deliver on its commitment to improve service delivery.
“Getting a driver’s licence is an important milestone in people’s lives, and Service NSW is making that process faster and more convenient than ever,” he said.
“The roll-out of Service NSW one-stop shops across the state has already slashed waiting times for driver test bookings from 35 days on average a year ago, to around 9 days today.”
“With a new dedicated Driver Test Centre at Silverwater – the first of its kind – we expect to see waiting times reduce even further, and that’s great news for anyone keen to take their test and get on the road.”
Since the introduction of Service NSW, capacity for driver testing has increased, with Service Centres at Liverpool, Wetherill Park, Botany, Bankstown, Blacktown, Castle Hill, Macarthur, Ryde and Miranda each now equipped to deliver up to ten driver tests simultaneously.
Extended Service NSW hours have also boosted capacity, with driver tests starting from 7am at many Service NSW Centres across Sydney.
“As demand continues to grow, it is vital that the driver testing system in NSW remains robust and able to meet that demand, which is why Service NSW continues to make increased capacity a priority,” Mr Perrottet said.
The Silverwater Driver Test Centre is located at 1-15 River Street, Silverwater, and is open from 8:30am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Customers can book a driving test online at service.nsw.gov.au.
